The big question is, “Which is the best way to work with lighting today?” For video, in-game engines and data centers follow a path that is probably similar to the way 2D games are working today. Techniques like dynamic global illumination (DGI) and general GPU-supported lighting are helping all industries work with lighting over these APIs, but games are really their main market right now.

As we move forward, it’s clear that this future of multi-aperture capture and darkroom-inspired processing will be where big changes will be seen in the future of how we shoot, process our files, and use the tools inside our software.

With this evolution, we’re going to see reference-less imaging, a light-painting dual focus, zero plane, “hyper-real” rendering, and more. As our cameras and our editing software evolve, so will our expectations for the photographic process and the ability to attain the desired result. We’ll get images that are more alive and more believable by virtue of our editing tools, not our cameras.

Adobe is getting less and less money for every iteration of its software and more and more requests to add features. With the move to “AI,” the “features” that can be purchased are fewer and farther between. Turning the copier into a digital camera, for example, is something everyone wants. How many cameras do you see advertised for sale online? The majority of cameras sold are focused on taking quick snapshots quick to email to others (not good enough for a professional working with raw files). The percentage of trained professionals who need photographers for weddings and other events is increasing, as is the percentage of those who have disposable income to buy nice camera equipment.

Importing AA art, if successful, is a minor change that makes no difference whatsoever to the way you work. Nothing happens if it fails and you can’t export a TIFF file. It is included to help insure that visitors to your web site are not running large images. If you have a web site that has images above 1200 pixels by 1200 pixels, you should be able to offer people a smaller file. They may lose detail, of course, but at the same time, they will find it much faster to download because they won’t have to wait for the large image to download and store it on their hard disks. Importing AA art is one of those “nice-to-have” features that no one really misses. If you are concerned about running out of disk space, you can compress a file before you import it — with the caveat that the AA art portion will not be compressed. It’s possible you might need to compress the entire file to 800 or 600 pixels by 600 pixels to import a small one, folder, or at least to compress the block range into a smaller file. Unfortunately, there is no way to tag an image to tell it that it’s coming from AA art, and it doesn’t default to showing up on the web when it’s imported or downloaded from a web server as a TIFF file. If this bothers you, you can download the image, find the AA art, cut and paste it into a new layer, and delete the original file.

Selecting text, shapes, or any other element from your image and moving it, are just some of the features you can call up with the Move feature. As you can imagine, the Move feature is pretty powerful, and you can use it to work on any image, video, or text. Immediately after selecting the element, you can scale it, rotate it, or even create an animation using the element. Putting text in your image with the Move tool is a great way to add interest and excitement to your project. You can animate text and motion graphics using the Move tool. It’s super easy to use.

The Copy and Paste options let you create images from a location in your project. You can select an image from within another file and then use that image to create a new image. You can also use the Copy and Paste tools to copy and paste layers from one project file to another and apply the artwork to the new project. These features are great for trying out different looks before you apply them to your artwork.

Prior to this update, the Print module of Photoshop Camera was a separate editing plug-in called Printer Utility. This monolithic module contained all of the editing power of Photoshop Camera. Now, the Print module has been consolidated into what was previously the Printer Utility module. Note that Photoshop Camera, which is the ability to take two still images and generate an animated GIF, is not part of this release. We’ll be talking more about Photoshop Camera in a future release. In addition, improvements have been made to the internals of Photoshop Camera and the UI.
