OK, so everyone is complaining about the slowness of the preview search until I provided the sample image. I realize that this can be considered a bug but what I find to be the case is that after upgrading to Lightroom 5.2, I noticed myself switching back to the quick search instead of going to the camera and search images. When using the preview search, there are no options to stop at the images I want. I have to tap on “Photoshop (searching)” and tap the portion of the screen I want the images from. And if I know I want “all images” for a project, then the quick search is not present on the context menu. Very strange.

Usually we don’t give any stars because we don’t aim to encourage new users to purchase a product. But, after reviewing this in-depth feature with a lightweight Lightroom that people typically use to extract Photoshop features into the Darkroom, it is clear that cannot be a reason to not review it. It’s a low budget shoot so why take a $6K+ DSLR?
I was shooting a project that involved several weddings on the island of Hawaii. I and my assistant camerawoman (a friend of mine) were the escorts to photographers and makeup artists at each wedding. I’m going through your positive review and I found one thing that could be better (sorry for the bad language :).
After upgrading to LR 5.2 I’m not able to use a project with more than 1500 D800 NEF files. While in previous versions the performance was all right I felt quite good the preview was faster and it was in fact an impressive performance. Because of the update (I think the update is called CS6, maybe you are working with another version?) my performance went in the opposite direction becoming painful. As I mentioned earlier I’m seeing that the reason is that I’m missing the DNG preview, while you mention it is not for the developer that is not the case. I’m saying because I haven’t found issues or any need for pre-downloaded files. I’m using the mountain Lion Update, maybe it does not work with the normal version, but in the case of updating from the Lion I think it is not necessary.

Lightroom 4.0 has made a number of improvements, including the ability to identify duplicates copied with the new Copy Object function. Also, the ratings of the layers now appear in workflow views. Of course, we all love Lightroom’s automatic face recognition, but I find it awkward to work with. The variable Width and Height with the Size Inspector gives me a better image-based size and position for my Photo, but I still need to copy the metadata from the original image. I wish Lightroom had a feature that automatically presets the fields when we import images. With scriptable workflows, it should be very easy to add such capability.
